There are things there all around us that we often miss because we're just not looking. This is perhaps the most true in the world of technology, where thousands of secrets are out there in the wild, hidden in the code. If you know where to look for, or if you can read the code, you can find these secrets. This, as so many functions of iOS get early identified sites like 9to5 Mac, which is code analysis (and confirming our code digging buckets). This is how we know basically all about Chrome OS before he actually started. This is how we know that Facebook places came before the announcement. And now we just discovered new mass finds in this way.
Hidden in the code Facebook's iPhone app is code for something else. Something everyone is waiting for more than a year. The IPad application.
Yes, it is real, and it's spectacular (well, very well, at least). And Yes, it really is directly in your code. Even better it is executable. (Updated: lots of pictures here.)
For the last couple of hours I use Facebook iPad app well I must get it. I can't be sure if this is the version they will actually ship, but based on everything I've seen, I believe that this is at least very close to the version that they supply. Although most written with HTML5 (as you might expect from Facebook), native iPad work too well.
In particular, the navigation system is great. Unlike the iPhone app is now complains even its creator as obsolete — Facebook application iPad uses the system menu on the left, which is available by clicking a button or Flick the iPad screen. The application also uses a large pop Overs (overlay menu) in the other iPad apps. When the iPad Flip horizontally, a list of your friends, and you can communicate with them as you do other things on Facebook. Photo viewer aspect looks great — the iPad is like the mother's own app photos of places there ... with nice large map to show you all your friends around you. And so on.
It's all good. I'm going to put up a post after this one with tons of screenshots of the entire application.
All this may seem to be due to the seemingly tiny update Facebook yesterday pushed on their iPhone app version 3.4.4 seemed like a small version, which reclaimed the submit button for comments and chat among a few other little things. Facebook can even pushed it in response to some of the reactions I get about the application, as the Financial Times described a few days ago. Perhaps it was a rush to fix some of the issues that caused Facebook to make this version — which would eventually be universal binary (i.e. it will house the iPhone and iPad app) with iPad elements inside. In any case, the application payload is much more important than some errors.
So I use it. You can? Well, Yes, if you don't mind doing some stuff you technically should not make your iPad. We obviously do not recommend it, but if you catch my drift, I'm sure you can figure out a way to access Facebook on the iPad. Related, it should be noted that the Canadian student Marvin Bernal, who calls himself "iOS enthusiasts" actually almost immediately noticed this error Facebook and tweeted about it.
So after more than a year, Facebook now is really on the verge of releasing iPad app has passed more than a month since Nick Bilton of the New York Times reported the existence of the app and says that it should begin in the coming weeks. " At that time, we further verified his existence, but not within the hearing scheduled to run. After the source now says that by changing the HTML, rolling on an hourly basis, it looks like is still underway. However, most of this work appeared at this stage be less settings. We closely — just in case the code to link to the iPhone app does not pay that.
During the launch of Skype video chat integration a few weeks ago, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company is preparing for a full list of launches in the coming weeks. The IPad app will be one of them. And judging from what I saw today, I would be less surprised if his Spartan project and eventually. One thing missing iPad app (like all other Facebook Mobile) gaming (and all other third party applications). Spartan can bring down the line.
We will do a post with a ton of images soon. Below is a quick taste.
Update: and all the images. Enjoy yourselves.
Updated 2: I confirmed the source, who had previously seen the iPad Facebook application that is actually quite OK that they plan to start with we'll see if the schedule gets accelerated now.
