Last week, we reported about several Facebook design changes, including updates for Facebook chat and an improved sidebar. Today, it looks like the new "mini" news channel is in the process rolling for more users. Tips are starting to roll in the updated Facebook, which includes a miniature real-time news feed on the right side of the page. In some cases, this feed has the label "Ticker".
New live ticker shows all activity from your friends on Facebook, as it happens, which is different from both the Facebook News feed works today. The main news channel algorithms used to surface the most interesting and relevant, based on a number of factors, including likes, comments, and how often you chatted with friends.
Ticker, however, reveals all: likes, comments, status updates, new photos, updates from pages you are a fan of … in short, the works.
Update:
Facebook's statement about the new features:
"Currently we are testing the functions in the news channel that gives people the opportunity to see what their friends are commenting on and" liking ", because these actions are carried out on Facebook. This test includes a small percentage of Facebook users, only a fraction of a percent. In the coming weeks as we learn more from this test, we will keep improving and can extend it to more people. "
Thanks, @ gizmosachin and Robert
