Twitter _ Search - cats

It's not every day that John Doerr sends us an e-mail message in our field. In fact, he did not send one today too, but someone using his name. (Yes, we have tested with real John Doerr, this was not his). The fake John Doerr would like to tell us about a cool new search shortcut at Twitter.com. If you type "SP" anywhere on the page (but not in the search box or Tweet box) a new "photo search" will appear that will search only photography. If you do this, you get a nice Visual grid of photos that people Tweeted out.

Okay, so this shortcut isn't exactly new either (it has been available since at least June), but no one in the TechCrunch saw him and I couldn't find anywhere was on Twitter. We spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out if it was new. It is not new, but it is hidden. Try typing in "cats" and see what you get.

There are even cooler context searching for video. Enter "sv" and "video search" window appears. Results are also displayed in the grid, and after you play one, it goes to a timeline view. After years of only 140 characters of spare thread and display links almost astounding. But take a look at that Twitter could look like if he was not trying to hide all Visual effects.

Keyboard shortcuts, by the way, have always been thin part of the new Twitter design. Other you can play around with include "n" for a new tweet, reply-to "r", "t" for retweet and "m" for direct messages.
